On Saturday June 6th a group of staff, students and volunteers got together to develop a piece of land at Nova Hreod into a ‘Community Garden’.

The group – cleared a path through the site, prepared beds for vegetables, constructed an ‘outdoor classroom’ out of logs, opened up the pond area, planted wild flowers and made bird nesting boxes.

BBC Wiltshire Sound broadcast live from the site throughout the morning as the creation of this ‘Breathing Place’ was designated part of the national ‘Dirty Weekend’ project.

There is still a great deal of work to do with scope for further development. The next big event in the garden will be held in November when it is anticipated that dozens of trees will be planted, however if you would like to have an immediate involvement in the ‘Community Garden’ work then please contact Tom Wilkes at the school.
