Our uniform requirements for students in Year 7 to Year 11:
-
Skirts or trousers to be plain navy blue, dark grey or black
-
Plain white polo shirts with no logo’s
-
Round neck sweatshirts in Navy Blue with Nova Hreod logo
Flat, plain and dark shoes – no trainers or boots
Students may not wear clothing of a denim material or leather jackets.
Jeans and Corduroy are NEVER accepted. Students should be wearing plain trousers (no stripes or accessories such as large belts/ buckles/ motifs/ extra zips etc) and these should not be of the jean style or jean material. School trousers are readily accessible from the National School wear shop or other major school uniform retailers such as Tesco/Asda/Matalan or Marks and Spencer’s at very reasonable prices.
Sweaters, jumpers or cardigans other than official uniform are not to be worn at college or worn as a ‘Coat’. Large fashion belts are not appropriate for college.
Caps with a peak must not be worn at all.
Jewellery must not be worn except for 1 small set of plain studs or sleeper earrings for those with pierced ears. No nose/eyebrow/tongue studs or visible body piercings are allowed.
Coats, scarves and all non uniform items must be placed in lockers as soon as the student enters the college.
Make-up must not be worn and students will be asked to remove this.
Extremes of fashion in clothing and hairstyle (including tram lines, obvious highlights and coloured hair) will not be allowed. Please note that dress and uniform standards will not be relaxed, except for our occasional, fund raising ‘non-uniform’ days. These are rare (once or twice a year) and parents will be given ample notice.
It will be of great help if parents would check their son or daughter’s uniform and equipment before sending them to college in the morning. Suitable bags to carry exercise books, planner, pencil case and PE kit are essential.
Students who come to college wearing incorrect uniform may be sent home to change, or if this is not possible isolated with their tutor to complete college work.
It must be stressed that the key to a successful uniform policy is in the hands of parents. As stated above, the college does reserve the right to send home children who are out of uniform but, because of the possible dangers, is most unwilling to do so.
Children who are not properly dressed are always interviewed by tutors, Progress and Quality Leaders, etc but discussions are conducted privately. Thus it may appear that some students are getting away with breaking the rules – this is not the case. If there are particular difficulties in dressing your chid in college uniform, then it is important to contact the tutor or relevant Progress and Quality Leader straight away.

Students in all years, who represent the college at matches and sporting events, will need to purchase a navy blue polo shirt from college. Students opting to take GCSE PE or Junior Sports Leaders award will also need to purchase a specially embroidered navy polo shirt from college as a requirement of the course. This is because they are expected to visit other institutions and represent the college in a professional manner.
Students in current Year 8-11 should replace the Hreod Parkway Uniform and PE uniform with the Nova Hreod uniform as required over the course of this academic year e.g. when students outgrow uniform or it becomes damaged. It is expected by 2008/9 all students will be wearing the new uniform. Many students have already opted to change for the new sweatshirt and polo shirt.
